Proposal submitted to Socrates Sculpture Park, Astoria, New YorkA site-specific, participatory performance was planned and proposed for Socrates Sculpture Park. A high deck would be constructed at the land’s edge, and a heavy-duty hose connected to a water pipe would be prepared. Per session lasting 20 minutes, a two-person team, from the top of the deck, would water the water (the river).
Seen from across the river, the performance would create a tiny splash that is rather pathetic in sight and that quickly disappears into the vast current of the river. Through the proposal, I explored a heightened sense of affective labor that is, in materiality, ineffective and insignificant.
